For Faculty: A Guide to Library Resources and Services: Faculty Scholarship

Access to Electronic Resources

You can access the library's electronic resources remotely (off campus) with your LIU Brooklyn email user name and password. After the "Remote Access Login Screen" appears, type in your LIU username and password. Click the "LOGIN" button. Database access is limited to current students, faculty, and staff. This guide explains all these steps in photos!

You may call the circulation department at (718) 488-1338 or stop by the circulation desk if you are unable to log into the databases from off campus.

Recommended Books on Faculty Professional Development

These are a list of books from the LIU Brooklyn Library that can help faculty learn more about scholarly publishing and professional development.

Recommended Books

Scholarly Publishing and Bibliometrics

The library faculty created a Scholarly Publishing and Bibliometrics LibGuide to help faculty members learn more about bibliometrics and citation analysis in the world of scholarly publishing.

This information can be especially useful for faculty on the tenure track. The guide includes sections on finding an appropriate target journal, journal rankings, citation impact, and recommended reading.

Open Access Journals

Open access journals, which offer content free of charge to anyone regardless of institutional affiliation, are becoming increasingly popular across the academic disciplines. Edward Keane, the Serials/Database Coordinator, created an Open Access and Scholarly Publishing LibGuide intended to provide faculty with useful information regarding the various facets of open access publishing.

The guide covers topics including predatory open access journals, copyright, locating open access journals across the disciplines, and tools for evaluating the quality of open access journals.
