LIU Brooklyn Library Prize for Undergraduate Research: How to Apply

This guide provides information for LIU Brooklyn undergraduate students interested in applying for one of the library's awards for top research papers

Application Guidelines

All applications must fully follow the four steps listed below. The committee will not accept submissions that are either incomplete or submitted after the contest deadline. We encourage you to ask a trusted person to review your application for you before turning it in!

1. Completed application form (please download the form in the box to the right)

2. A 500-700 word essay describing your research strategies and use of library resources and services. Please include information such as the name of the resources and services, specific databases, keywords used and other research-related information that help illustrate your search strategies and research process. Please also describe how you apply critical analyses in selecting appropriate resources. You can check out a prize-winning submission from an undergraduate student at Chapman University for an example.

3. A 250-500 word summary of your paper/project along with a separate complete works cited list, reference list, or bibliography in APA, MLA, Chicago, or other recognized citation style.

4. Please email your application form, essay, and summary to bkln-libspecialcoll@liu.edu. Please include "Undergraduate Research 2023-2024" in the Subject line. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been processed.
