LIU has subscriptions to Journal Citation Reports and SCOPUS. While JCR's Impact Factor is more widely known, SCOPUS includes more citations making it possible one will find the journal they are searching for indexed in SCOPUS and not in JCR.

What is SCOPUS

SCOPUS is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. Delivering a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in   the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts   and humanities, Scopus features smart tools to track, analyze and   visualize research.

SCOPUS Metrics

  • Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP) It is defined as the ratio of a journal's citation count per paper and the citation potential in its subject field.
  • The Impact per Publication (IPP)  The IPP metric is using a citation window of three years which is considered to be the optimal time period to accurately measure citations in most subject fields.
  • SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) is a prestige metric based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. With SJR, the subject field, quality and reputation of the journal have a direct effect on the value of a citation.
